Special Propertiess for sale in Western Algarve
Western Algarve - The coast west of Albufeira out as far as Sagres, remains one of the least spoiled parts of the Algarve, largely thanks to the Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina which prohibits large-scale building on the coastline west of Burgau. With the exception of the popular areas around Carvoeiro, Lagos and Portimao, the further west one travels the resorts remain largely low-rise and low-key. It is an area virtually untouched by tourism, with small hamlets and villages scattered here and there and many of the beaches are just that... beaches! No resort! Most of the coast is linked by a craggy coastal path and you can easily walk between the villages. The walks between Salema and Luz or Luz to Lagos are in particular beautiful routes. The coastline is much more dramatic and rugged than the southern coast and more exposed to the Atlantic weather - the reason that it is such a popular area for the surfers and water enthusiasts.
